Although there isn’t anything in Proverbs 31 about Surefire timers or helping me practice, Mrs. Ahab definitely demonstrated how awesome a Gun Wife she is last night. I had just gotten my new holster for the Springer XD, and was practicing draws to try and anchor the position in my head. The holster is a Blackhawk! CQC, which is the same model of holster I use for shooting my 1911s.
So, I’m downstairs practicing, and Mrs. Ahab rolls up next to me with her iPhone, with it’s Surefire shot timer download fired up and ready to go. Giving me the standard range commands (Shooter ready, stand by, etc) she would run the timer on a par so I could practice getting the gun out and getting on target in a set amount of time. While her helping me is awesome, what’s even more awesome is that without any input from me, she started decreasing the par, forcing me to push myself faster – but never telling me what the par time was set for so I couldn’t get inside my head.
Last night with her timing me, I had the fastest draw/shot of my life – she set the par to 0.5 seconds, and I beat it. I’ve never drawn in under half a second, and I have her to thank for pushing me faster to get to that point.
My wife is AWESOME.
… I am so getting spanked tomorrow.
