Reader Wayne was kind enough to do some terminal ballistics testing of common caffeine based projectiles in ballistic gel. As you can see, while the uncapped mug leaves a larger wound channel, the capped/paper cup is able to penetrate deeper, making it the preferable choice for self defense.
