SHOT Show 2012: Low Pro EDC

EDC, standing for Every Day Carry, often makes me think of guys in baggy tactical pants and BLACKHAWK! polos with beat up baseball caps, but thanks to the products available today being prepared can be done in a much more low profile fashion. Check out these products from this year’s SHOT Show for some ideas on how to tone down the tacticool and still have high quality defensive products on hand.

SureFire EB1 Backup

The E1B Backup weighs in at only 3.2 oz, is only 4.4″ long and still outputs up to 200 lumens. Another excellent option from SureFire, like many of their flashlights the Backup offers dual-output settings with a Mil-Spec hard anodized aluminum body.

The Pocket Pistols

The gun industry has made huge steps forward in the development of pocket pistols since last year. With the debut of the Sig Sauer P938, the revamp of the PM9 (I’m not sold on the manual safety, but the new trigger is nice) and the variety of .380 pistols that came onto the market it’s now easy to find a good and extremely small pocket gun for days when packing a full-size pistol may be more difficult.

Woolrich Tactical Elite Concealed Carry Chino

The days when packing a full-size pistol may be more difficult are becoming fewer and fewer. Woolrich Tactical has their Elite Concealed Carry Chino that is actually discreet. It looks like a pair of pants. Probably because it is a pair of pants. Sure, you’re going to lose those 10 million cargo pockets that can fit an entire tablet computer, but this particular chino comes with a “strategically constructed” pocket designed to reduce printing, perfect for when you want to carry without looking like your carrying.

W.R. Case Carbon Fiber Knives

One of my favorite booths at SHOT Show was the Case Knives booth. Case, long known for their high quality knives, is starting to develop a more “tactical” line. Part of this is a line of carbon fiber knives that not only look good but weigh in at almost nothing. The 3.125″ Lockback weighs only .6 oz. (Your Spyderco Native5 weighs 3.7 oz.)
