Congratulations. You and Lone Wolf appear to be successfully developing the Evil Black Pistol companion for the skawy Evil Black Rifles. I don’t need one, but I sure want one. :)
I know this is a race gun, and function becomes a matter of winning by shaving a tenth of a second rather than life or death, but I have a couple of questions. Gaston seems like a pretty good designer, and after 4 generations and millions sold I imagine that they have it down pretty pat. Why on earth don’t they cut this much material. The gun looks fantastic, and I imagine you swapped some springs, but how does a mod like this affect lockup and cycling? I love the design, and it is superb machining (I am glad I did not have to do the indexing and clamping) but the same amount of material could have been removed with much less machining. Were your reasons purely cosmetic? Mo criticism implied, cause it looks the tits.

If you were to make a Ven diagram of OEM requirements and competition requirements for a product, you’ll discover there is shockingly little overlap. So much so that ‘production’ base competitions usually add requirements that force some level of overlap. And this isn’t just true of guns, look at automotive competition. Group B ‘production’ WRC cars are basically an OEM shell that receives extensive modification including seam welding, bigger wheel wells, and then a whole bunch of non OEM stuff is bolted in. Did Ford error in building the Fiesta because the WRC modified so extensively? Of course not.

After looking this thing over closely, the Big question for me is:
Mmm… Come to think of it, I’m hungry for a sammich!
Caleb: Make me a pistolwhip and swiss sammich!
;)

I suspect additional sight radius and barrel length whlie maintaining the same or ever faster cyclic rate are big reasons for that much lightening. But it really looks bad @$$ they way they took out that much metal. Be careful with cracks in the slide over time. After about 10k rounds give it a close look every 1k or so I’ve heard about a few of storries about slides breaking on guns with extra lightening

I’m certain I saw this a year ago in the Museum of Modern Art in NYC
Is that thing safe to touch with your bare hands? Impressive.
They’re going to cut so much of the slide off, it will soon look like a Beretta. :)

Looks nice, whats the total weight reduction?
That thing looks ninja.

Does it have the OEM Maritime spring cups ?
Makes me think of Swiss Cheese…

You can also grate cheese with it.
Or strain pasta.
Slide mass is a critical element of the total firing system. Mess with it at your own risk.
I have issues with the tolerances in LW barrels, meanwhile. I’ve had some of my first (and only) jams on my Glocks with them. YMMV.
They still won’t do Bomar sight cuts?
Which hole are you going to use for the front sight?
It’s sort of like “pin the tail on the donkey” except with Warren sights.
